Summer in Carlsbad

I spent the summer of 2024 in Carlsbad, New Mexico, during my internship at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. I really enjoyed my time there. Carlsbad is the largest city/town I have ever lived in. Despite all of the times I had the exchange of “I’m living in Carlsbad this summer!” “Oh I’m sorry :(“, I miss what I had there and could definitely see myself going back. It would, however, never be the same without the wonderful intern group that I had down there!

Guadalupe Mountains National Park

Views from the Guadalupe Peak Trail

Very pretty and unusual Calcite crystals

Field Trip to Black River with CEHMM (Texas Hornshell Mussel Habitat)

View of the Black River – this is the area that I went swimming in.

This stream is one of the main habitats of the Texas Hornshell Mussel – the clearest water I have ever seen.

Other Highlights

Sunrise at WIPP parking lot

This was my sweetest baby boy before I adopted him. Lots of love to Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter – this little man has brought so much joy into my life.
